Took the golf cart out on the service road and found many bones. Deer, mostly. Haven’t found this many in one trip in a very long time. Anyone else here collect bones?

You... collect bones?

I used to, then the cops started snooping around so I had to ditch them...

A buddy of mine found two buck corpses during rut, entangled via their antlers. Seemed as though they were fighting, got antlers locked, and presumably died from exhaustion. I’m not a hunter, don’t really care for trophy mounts, but the two skulls/antler racks locked together was a neat mount, along with the story.

Yep! Not human ones. I’m looking for antlers mainly, but I’ll pick up whatever is interesting. A decent number of my friends/colleagues/neighbors do as well... maybe it’s just a Texas thing.

I live in Texas. Was born here. Live in ranch country.
You’re the first person I’ve ever heard of who collects bones.
It’s not a #JustTexasThings.

Please tell me you have a BONE COLLECTOR bumper sticker on the back window of your truck, plus the words “for real, though” right below it.

there for a while i had a collection of tails, and wings, and bits off the critters i was offing here at the house. i havent been on after them so much, and i let the collection go to some of my friends. tails all look sweet flying from car antennas. the skulls werent much count, as they nearly all had holes in them.......

I guess I just work with weirdos then! They’re the ones that got me into it. Various things they’ve left around the office building:
There’s tons more but I’m not about to go into other folks’ offices and photograph them to put on the internet.

I’m pretty sure that’s why I found so many today. Lots of wild dogs in the area recently. They probably moved them out of the brush closer to the trail where I could see them.

so you could probably take a bunch of different skulls/ bones into work, and make some computer models right? and then if you could, you would then be able to create “Kustom” skeletons, with say three heads, and extra wings and tails, horns, and stuffs?

Yeah... we have everything here to scan them and then assemble them in SolidWorks. We could even 3D print the result. I’m pretty sure there is a line there somewhere that I’d cross and get in trouble if I actually did this, even on a weekend. How have you been recovering from the crash the other day?

thanks for the concern,
i am finally getting up and around again, took me a little bit to get past the soreness (reaching for anything was a CHORE(could barely put on my shoes)). i was a bit of a dingbat while i was waiting, and hadnt gotten any real information, i wasnt thinking too far(i dont have much accident experience).and the girl i hit was barely coherent. i was able to get the accident report today, it was finally ready. it has all the info, so i can now get STARTED making a claim. good stuff.
sure would be fun though, with the Kustom one off skeleton creations...... maybe some scale creations, with say a clock in the middle of the ribcage..... you might could talk to some of the other divisions there, and see if it tied into any of thier research.
